XP-Pen
A standalone 12.2 inch Android 14 drawing tablet with 8 GB memory, 256 GB storage, an 8000 mAh battery and an X3 Pro slim pen, so no computer is needed.
Best for: Artists who want to draw on the move and leave the computer behind
The XPPen Magic Drawing Pad is a standalone drawing tablet. It runs Android 14 on its own, so you draw directly on its 12.2 inch screen with no computer, and download drawing apps from Google Play.
The X3 Pro Slim pen is rated at 16,384 pressure levels with 60 degrees of tilt and needs no charging or pairing, and the screen is AG-etched for a paper-like feel. It is 6.9 mm slim and weighs 599 g.
Based on the manufacturer's Amazon listing.
Press lightly for a hairline and harder for a bold stroke, and tilt up to 60 degrees to shade. The pen needs no charging and no pairing, so you just pick it up and draw.
The AG-etched glass gives a paper-like texture under the pen. The 2160 x 1440 resolution, 3:2 shape and 97% sRGB color give a sharp, full-color canvas.
The screen is TUV Rheinland certified for eye comfort and uses ten steps of soft light treatment for long sessions.
Download apps from Google Play. Activating the account adds a 3-month membership for both Clip Studio Paint and ibis Paint X.
XPPen lists 8 GB of running memory and 256 GB of storage, which expands up to 1 TB with a micro SD card.
XPPen lists up to 13 hours of non-stop creation on a charge.
It slips into a bag like a regular tablet, and dual windows let you keep a reference image open while you draw.
Look elsewhere if: you want beginner lessons and extras included. The PicassoTab X11 comes with lifetime Artixo tutorials, a case and a drawing glove.
